Day 2 was a shortish hop (9 miles) from Ennerdale to Borrowdale, and day 3 was a longish stride from Borrowdale to Patterdale (18 miles with some challenging ascents). Some absolutely stunning views over the various dales, and the weather is still unbelievable!
Shout out to National Park and National Trust staff, who were helicoptering in huge bags of rocks to do footpath repairs in the uplands. Tough work, and goes to show how much labour goes into these fantastic trails.
Interesting species: fieldfare, redpoll, wood warbler, goosander, small heath butterfly, round-leaved sundew, three different clubmosses, alpine ladies mantle, yellow mountain saxifrage (I think), smooth newt.
Plus we heard our first cuckoo of the year, loud and clear in Borrowdale!
